Online store cost calculator: get a fixed price for your ecommerce build

What are you selling?

Digital only stores skip the postage questions. There is nothing to ship.

Which build is right for you?

Both are complete stores with the same pages and the same twenty products included. What separates them is how the storefront is built underneath, and what that means the day your range changes shape.

This is the answer that sets your build price.

Moving from Set range to Open range after launch is £2,250. That is more than the gap between them, because retrofitting filtering into a storefront built without it is harder than building it in. It is published here so it can never turn up later as a surprise.

Roughly how many products?

A rough number is fine. The rate eases as the catalogue grows, so being ten out barely moves it.

Twenty are included in both builds. Past that you pay per product, and the rate drops as the number climbs.

How many separate items would have their own page? A shirt in five sizes, or five colours, is one product, not five.

products

That rate covers putting them in as well as building for them. Send us the numbers, the photos and the details, and we do the inputting.

Are you selling anywhere at the moment?

Whichever it is, it is fine. It only changes what we do first.

Do you own a domain?

Your web address, like onlineify.co.uk. It is separate from the shop itself, and you pay for it yearly, direct to whoever you buy it from.

What a domain costs: usually £12 to £30 a year, and that is the price every year, not a cheap first year that jumps later. A .com is usually at the top of that, and a short or sought after name can be a lot more. We will help you pick one and show you what it costs before you commit to anything. You buy it yourself, in your own name. We never hold it, and we take nothing from it.

What runs the shop behind the scenes?

We build the site itself either way, in our own framework, designed around your brand. This decides what sits behind it: what holds your products, what runs the basket, and what takes the money. It is the one part of the setup that costs you something monthly, and it is worth a moment.

Either way the site is ours to build and yours to own, in your own name, and we take nothing from your sales. One thing is worth starting today whichever you pick: before any shop can take its first payment, somebody has to check your identity and your bank details. Shopify do it on the first option and your processor does it on the second, and only you can complete it. It often clears in minutes, but if they ask you for documents it can run into days, and that is the part of a launch date nobody here can control or hurry.

What still needs sorting?

Nothing here is a problem and none of it changes your price. It changes what we need from you and when, which is what makes the launch date a real one.

Whatever is not ready becomes a dated line in your build plan, owned by whoever is doing it. We would rather know now than find out in week two.

Which pages do you need?

All ticked to start with. Untick anything you genuinely do not want: none of these change your price, they decide what gets built and written down.

Included, whatever you pick

  • Privacy policy
  • Terms of sale
  • Cancellation and returns rights
  • Cookie notice

A UK store cannot trade without these, so they are part of every build and never counted. We build the pages, you provide the wording. These are legal documents and they have to be yours, checked and approved by you before launch.

Something else

Name a page the list does not cover. Add as many as you need.

Your shop is bigger than this list. Cart, checkout, order confirmation, account and search come with Shopify and get styled to match, or get built from scratch if you have chosen to go without it. Product and category pages are built once and render for every item, which is what the catalogue covers. These are the pages with words on them, and they are the ones worth choosing deliberately. A genuinely bespoke page beyond them is £150.

How is the shop split up?

The sections people browse by. We have started you off. Change them to whatever your shop actually looks like, or leave them and we will sort it at kickoff.

Logo and brand?

We build with what you have got, or we sharpen it first.

Who looks after it once launched?

A separate monthly figure that never gets folded into the build price. Two totals, one-off and monthly, always.

You own everything from day one either way. A plan is help you choose, not rent you owe.

What happens after somebody buys?

Two separate jobs, so pick the one you need first. One catches and routes the enquiry, the other keeps talking to the people who already bought. The other can be added later.
